poetry

Ever since Mr. Delamar’s creative writing class all the way back in 2007 I’ve refused to describe myself as a poet. Silly, I know. At the time I just didn’t want anyone to read what I had to write. Nowadays it’s mostly because I don’t know how to. Poetry tends to be deeply personal. At the time I was first exploring it my life was not… lets just say “ideal”. My diary wasn’t a safe place to store any of my secrets. And over time I learned that my honest feelings needed to be secret if I was ever going to make it in society or even make a friend.

Fast forward some decade plus later and I still feel the same way for reasons I can’t really explain. But now I have found my way back to writing with much more love and compassion for myself. Through my writing I can connect dreams and the people who have them in a language I think even the stars would understand. Having the opportunity to write for someone is such an honor. The responsibility is easily outweighed by the reward of creating magic for another human being. And with that said; please feel free to browse the projects below. Reach out if you have a project in mind for me!

So far I have absolutely peeked at the amount of poetry I poured into this wedding not only visually but with words as well. I spent weeks working on this couples vows and I do have to say it was received very well! The father of the bride absolutely poured his heart and soul into his speech that night and it will be the kindest words I’ve ever remember. Art inspires heart!

The very first wedding I ever officiated was in Ohio years ago and boy did the beauty of the day inspire me! I’m still kind of thinking it would be lovely to retire and become a wedding venue host. Until then I will keep enjoying writing vows and other copy for wedding invites, save the dates, table numbers, greeting cards, thank you cards, and more!

It has been such an honor to be asked to create inside another family’s home. Can’t wait to come back and do another update some day!

Not only was my wedding absolutely lovely it was also a labor of so much love! This was the early days of branching out to new mediums. I’ve improved my typography quite a bit but these just have so much charm! I love doing large projects and may start doing murals in my own home at some point. You can guarantee there will be pictures posted here as soon as that happens!

Lets just say I was a little inspired after watching Spike Jones’ “Her”. I began using my handy dandy typewriter to create custom love letters for friends and family! I would love to bring back this tradition so keep your eyes peeled for updates – or just send a gentle reminder if you’re interested!
